Consolidation of Voting Precincts

Consolidation of Voting Precincts

July 19, 2022

WHEREAS, the Boone County Republican Party has in a previous resolution stated a clear position opposing any permanent consolidation of voting precincts during elections; AND,

WHEREAS, supporters of consolidating polling locations state that this change will save the taxpayers money and require less volunteers to work the polls; however, cost savings and lack of manpower is not proper justification for permanently reducing polling locations; AND,

WHEREAS, the reduction of polling locations is the most extreme countermeasure to a transient
problem of a lack of poll workers; AND,

WHEREAS, the Boone County Board of Elections have the duty and obligation to protect the election
process and its registered voters right to participate in their duly designated voting precincts; NOW
THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Boone County Republican Party calls upon the Boone County Board of
Elections and our representative Emily Shelton, to oppose any efforts to consolidate voting precincts as a permanent strategy or plan.

Adopted this 18th day of July, 2022, at a Regular Meeting of the Boone County Republican Party.
