Public Library Board December 15
Presentations and discussions continue regarding how to use vacant land adjacent to the Hebron branch; public input has been strong. Also on the agenda was the audit for fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, and a board member’s request for benchmarking operational efficiency.
Public Library Board June 16
The Public Library Board heard reports about grant applications, personnel changes, a popular new offering at Walton, a possible new home for the Archive & History Center, the board’s finances and more.
Public Library Board May 19
The Boone County Public Library Board addressed concerns about vagrants using libary property to sleep and use drugs; questions regarding the Chapin Memorial Library; the Board’s search for grant funding; questions about staff reimbursement processes; sale of the Hebron branch’s undeveloped land; and other issues.
Planning & Zoning February 5
The Planning Commission is fielding proposals to build three hotels, two in the county and one in Florence, and has finally set dates for the tech committee meeting and final action on the Conrad Lane-Carry Back Drive condo development proposal.
Planning & Zoning January 22
Public hearings were set regarding a proposed medical marijuana dispensary and a coffee shop, both in Florence, a hotel on the Frogtown Connector, and changes to use on Mineola Park, among others. Action on the contentious proposal for Conrad Lane at Carry Back Drive continues to be deferred.
Planning & Zoning December 18
Final action to be taken on several proposals at the January 8 meeting. A contentious proposal for the north side of Conrad Ln. across from Carryback Dr. in Burlington continues. Agreement was reached on a change to zoning at 8109 US Hwy 42.

Several proposals noted in previous reports passed unanimously during this meeting. Others wait either for public hearings or the Tech Committee meeting on December 18, with action to follow January 8.
Planning & Zoning August 7
The report from the August 7 Planning & Zoning meeting includes new proposals for multi-family units off Mount Zion Road, Gunpowder Road, and Dixie Highway. Public hearings or final action on several proposals is scheduled for September 4.

The Local Issues Committee notifies of two series of public meetings regarding Boone County’s Long Range/Comprehensive Plan and updates on action to allow cannabis businesses.

Local Issues Committee chair Randy Stigall notes that changes proposed at the July 3 meeting would, if approved, permit construction of 742 multi-family/condo units.
