Senate Passes Rawlings’ Bill to Strengthen Liberty Protections
The Kentucky Senate has passed Senate Bill 60 (SB 60), legislation sponsored by Sen. Steve Rawlings, R-Burlington, to reinforce religious liberty protections across the Commonwealth. The measure now moves to the House for consideration.
Boone County to receive $99,164 from the KADF
Announced by Reps. Kim Banta (District 63), Steve Doan (69), Mark Hart (78), Savannah Maddox (61), Marianne Proctor (60), and Steve Rawlings (66): Boone County will receive $99,164 in tobacco settlement funds from the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund (KADF), according to a report provided to lawmakers at the December meeting of the legislature’s Tobacco Settlement Agreement Fund Oversight Committee.
Rawlings resolution would protect Kentuckians against unlawful mandates
Rep. Steve Rawlings (District 66) has filed “[l]egislation aimed at nullifying unconstitutional acts of the federal government. . . . The resolution, HJR 44, would prevent the federal government from rulemaking, monitoring, and enforcing treaties by federal agencies, unelected boards, executive orders of the President of the United States, or federal court decisions that violate the U.S. or the Kentucky constitution.”

The District presented the State’s effectiveness reporting system termed “Accountability Report.” Even the administration’s presenter described the report as “gobbledygook” because no insight can be extracted, much less improvement action steps identified from the report.
Efforts to Expand KEES Funding to Homeschoolers
Sen. John Schickel, R-Union, was joined by Laura Edwards, a certified teacher and homeschooling mother of six, along with Rep. Steve Rawlings, R-Burlington, and others during Wednesday’s Interim Joint Committee (IJC) on Education meeting. One of the key topics of discussion centered around expanding funding opportunities for homeschool students under the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) program.
