City of Union Proposed Ordinance 2021-20
WHEREAS the City of Union is proposing an ordinance creating a new Chapter 131 of the City of Union, Kentucky Code of Ordinances to prohibit certain discriminatory practices within the city, AND
WHEREAS the proposed ordinance introduces two, new protected classifications, sexual orientation, and gender identity. In creating these two, new protected classifications, the overreaching ordinance seeks to mandate the acceptance of radical ideology that is anti-life, immoral, and completely ignores scientific and biological reality, AND
WHEREAS the Kentucky KRS 344.010, relating to civil rights, is already comprehensive and appropriate. Discrimination on the basis of one’s gender is already prohibited, and there is no need to add additional language which will open the doors to persecuting parents, faith leaders, and medical professionals, AND
WHEREAS the proposed ordinance would mandate government-imposed unfairness by requiring acceptance of a progressive and radical ideology about sexual ethics, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED that the Boone County Republican Party calls upon the Commissioners and Mayor of the City of Union to vote against this proposed ordinance as an unnecessary solution in search of a problem, and get back to work protecting the God-given rights of its citizens.
Adopted this 24th day of January, 2022 at a regular meeting of the Boone County KY Republican Party.
