The Right to Life of Unborn Children

January 24, 2022

WHEREAS, on January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), creating in the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution the right of mothers to obtain elective abortions of their unborn children; AND

WHEREAS, Roe v. Wade denies the personhood of unborn children and therefore all human rights due to them; AND

WHEREAS, since Roe v. Wade at least 63 million elective surgical abortions have been performed in the United States of America in addition to an untold millions of chemical abortions; AND

WHEREAS, the Declaration of Independence asserts in part “We hold these truths to be self‐evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness;” AND

WHEREAS, never in the history of the United States of America has government been permitted by law, whether by official policy, legislation or common law, to intentionally terminate the lives of innocent human beings, AND

WHEREAS, unborn children are not guilty of the crimes of their parents and have no input into life choices made by their parents

WHEREAS, exceptions traditionally articulated to justify some abortions, such as in cases of rape, incest, and the life of the mother, do not and cannot legally or morally justify the death penalty for the innocent, unborn child.

WHEREAS, January 22, 2022, will be the 49th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The Boone County Republican Party declares that:

  1. All human life begins at conception, based on undisputed principles of Science and Medicine.
  2. All unborn children are persons under the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution, and therefore have a Right to Life.
  3. In cases where a pregnancy poses a serious threat to the life of the mother, best efforts must be employed by everyone involved in the medical care of the mother to preserve the lives of both mother and child, without targeting or abandoning either for termination or death.

Adopted this 24th day of January, 2022, at a regular meeting of the Boone County Kentucky Republican Party.
