BCRP Statement Regarding Mitch McConnell’s Status as Senate Minority Leader

BCRP Statement Regarding Mitch McConnell’s Status as Senate Minority Leader

September 1, 2023

The Boone County Republican Party (BCRP) has received multiple requests to comment on Senator Mitch McConnell’s freezing up during his recent visit to Covington, Kentucky. The BCRP has no comment regarding the health of Senator McConnell, as that is best left to medical professionals.

Unrelated to the Senator’s health, the BCRP voted to censure Mitch McConnell on September 13, 2021, for his fiscally irresponsible leadership regarding the passage of the infrastructure bill. One year later, on September 19, 2022, the BCRP again voted to censure the senator for his role in gun control legislation and called for his resignation as Senate Republican leader at that time.

Senator McConnell has not represented the Republicans of Boone County for some time, and given the current circumstances, we hope the senator would consider stepping down as Senate Republican leader.
