Florence City Council February 18

Florence City Council February 18

February 18, 2025

All city council members and Mayor Aubuchon-Metzger were present.

Agenda Point One (1) Six Fire Department members were promoted to lieutenant: Rob Barth, Matt Craft, Vince Lanning, Brendan McHugh, Candice Stewart, Josh Tucker.

Agenda Point Two (2) was a briefing for a zoning change at 8109 US Highway 42 allowing demolition of buildings currently on site. Once demolition is complete, a drive-through coffee business will operate under the name of Brew Team LLC.

Councilwoman Chambers had questions about potential traffic due to the drive-through’s location on an already busy city street/highway. There seemed to be no concern by Brew Team or Director Morgan. Councilwoman Chambers appeared to be the only person at the meeting concerned about traffic issues that potentially could be caused by the drive-through.

Agenda Point Three (3) was a briefing on a zoning change at 45 Cavalier Blvd to allow the opening of a center for students with autism. The company involved is Skills for Life.

Agenda Point Four (4) was a briefing for a zoning change at 4990 Houston Rd. in the Meijer parking lot to allow construction of additional Tesla charging stations. The construction apparently would be privately funded.

Agenda Point Five (5) was the mayor’s report, which covered issues such as a Presidents Day display in the city lobby; a Books & Bottles event Feb. 28 featuring local authors Ashleigh DuBois and Patricia McLinn; Saint Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt; and Florence Police Department Academy. Information and tickets for the Books & Bottles event can be found here.
