Florence City Council August 19

Florence City Council August 19

August 19, 2025

All City Council members and Mayor Aubuchon-Metzger were present except Gary Winn.

Numbers below match the official agenda. First four agenda points are not covered as they add no new city business info.

#5 – FIESTA Presentation.

FIESTA stands for Families – Inclusion – Education – Traditions – Access. FIESTA is an outreach to Hispanic families who are new or need assistance in the area. The three main things FIESTA provides are Food (culturally relevant) Assistance, Resource Coordination, and Education & Outreach.

There will be a FIESTA at the Plate at the Florence Y’Alls stadium as a fundraiser for the organization September 19, 6 to 10 p.m. FIESTA is located at 7536 US Highway 42, Florence.  Their web site is FIESTANKY.org.

#6 – Franchise agreements for rights of way on Florence city streets. Wherever a utility company line such as electric follows a city street, the right of way has to be leased from the city. Utility companies pay a franchise fee. Florence is in the process of a new, 20-year negotiation with Duke Energy and Owen Electric.

#7
– Resolution authorizing agreement between Kenton County Fiscal Court and Florence regarding Kenton Senior Services use at the Florence Senior Center: passed 5-0.
