Boone County School Board May 14

The May 14, 2026, meeting was largely focused on recognizing student, staff, and community achievements while conducting routine year-end district business.

The Board unanimously approved a comprehensive consent agenda that included meeting minutes, financial reports, employee leave requests, multiple construction and capital improvement projects, technology purchases, curriculum contracts, facility use agreements, student travel, transportation agreements, and several memorandums of understanding with community partners.

The Board also unanimously approved the district’s Tentative Working Budget for Fiscal Year 2027 ($373,535,244.00, about $17,850/student)and the 2026-2027 Salary/Wage Charts and Indexes, establishing the district’s preliminary financial plan and employee compensation structure for the upcoming school year.

A first reading of several board policy revisions was presented for discussion, with no vote required at this meeting. The only vote that was not unanimous involved the Board’s response to a Formal Level IV classified employee appeal, which was approved 4-0 with Carolyn Wolfe abstaining and the remaining four board members voting in favor.

The Board later entered executive session to conduct Superintendent Dr. Jeff Hauswald’s annual evaluation, returned without taking formal action, and publicly announced positive evaluation ratings while commending his strategic, collaborative, and forward-thinking leadership. Overall, the meeting reflected broad consensus among board members, with every motion passing and very little controversy. The only noteworthy issues raised were during public comment, where residents expressed concerns about principal hiring practices and school bus routing, though neither resulted in board action.
