Florence City Council November 11
The November 11 meeting addressed problems with misinformation and criticism on social media, and residents are advised to call or visit the council office with questions instead of posting online. Five members of the public spoke about various concerns.
Florence City Council October 21
Florence City Council approved the second reading of the ordinance regarding the proposed Wawa at Hopeful Church Rd and US Highway 42. A police cruiser was transferred to Breathitt County High School’s Criminal Justice Program, part of the county’s effort to encourage careers in law enforcement and public safety.
Florence City Council October 7
Representatives from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services presented statistics and needs of Boone County’s foster care system, among other items of business.
Florence City Council September 23
Among other business, Florence City Council discussed and voted on measures imposing franchise fees and further discussed and/or voted on zoning changes at 8748 US Highway 42 and 8540 US Highway 42.
Florence City Council August 26
With two members absent at the August 26 meeting, lack of quorum prevented voting, but the city council reported on funds for Children’s Home of Kentucky; discussed rights of way franchise fees; and heard reports on city initiatives, events and schedules.
Florence City Council August 19
A resolution to authorize an agreement between Florence and Kenton County regarding use of the Florence Senior Center passed unanimously. Also on the agenda was explanation of rights of way for utility lines that follow a city street.
Florence City Council August 12
Florence City Council discussed an agreement with Kenton County for the latter’s residents’ use of the Florence Senior Center. Also on the agenda was a recommendation that residents seek service line protection, which often is not included in homeowner’s insurance.

The public hearing regarding housing of greater density along Hathaway Road that was postponed by the applicant is back on the schedule for September 3.
