Resolution to Support Amendment 2

Resolution to Support Amendment 2

October 28, 2024

Whereas, the Boone County Republican Party supports a plan to cultivate great K-12 schools, ensure safe learning environments free from political meddling, and restore Parental Rights; and

Whereas, the Boone County Republican Party commits to an Education System that empowers students, supports families, promotes American Values, and prepares students for successful lives and well-paying jobs; and

Whereas, the Boone County Republican Party believes families should be empowered to choose the best Education for their children by supporting school choice in every State in America; and

Whereas, states surrounding Kentucky offer school choice programs; and

Whereas, Kentucky is ranked 30th in the country in education by US News and World Report, behind the surrounding states of Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia; and

Whereas, competition has improved outcomes and given lower-income households affordable options for educational success in states that have funded school choice; and

Whereas, Kentucky risks being left behind by states that encourage innovation and parental choice in education; and

Whereas, the Kentucky Constitution prohibits any taxpayer dollars from going to non-public schools, creating an education monopoly; and

Whereas, the Kentucky General Assembly requires new constitutional authority to pass pro-family school choice legislation because of the Kentucky Supreme Court ruling in 2022; and

Whereas, Amendment 2 would give the Kentucky General Assembly the authority to create policies that give parents, families and ultimately students more educational opportunities and freedoms;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the Boone County Republican Party supports Kentucky students by formally endorsing the passage of Amendment 2 and urging all citizens of Boone County to vote YES on November 5, 2024, for Amendment 2.

Adopted this 28th day of October 2024, at a regular meeting of the Boone County Kentucky Republican Party.
