Public Library Board September 21
Hamilton County Public Library is ending its reciprocity agreement with BCPL, citing costs. The resident who repeatedly offered to pay for a conservative publication to balance the library’s offerings believes she will not be heard and will not return for public comment.
Fiscal Court September 8
Notable among items for discussion was a plea by Gayle Pille for help stopping SD1’s plan to use eminent domain to take part of her property.
Planning Commission September 2
Two significant proposals–a new Kroger and a 340-unit multi-family development–were denied, while Athena Hospitality’s massive $100 million project was approved. A public hearing on October 7 will address several other projects.
Fiscal Court August 25
The Fiscal Court approved a zoning change for 37 acres on the west side of KY237 between Overlook Drive and Barbara Drive in Hebron to allow multifamily development. Ad valorem tax rates for 2026 also were approved.
Public Library Board April 20
The April meeting saw contentious discussion about overstaffing and continued discussion about access to the Chapin Memorial Library branch, budgets and transferring funds to interest-bearing accounts.
Planning Commission April 15
Of note, Drees has withdrawn its revised plan for further development along US Highway 42 in Union.
Fiscal Court April 14
Among other business, the April 14 meeting saw requests for more information regarding a proposed car wash on Burlington Pike, a first reading of an ordinance related to freight truck parking, and an increase in the coroner’s salary.
Boone County School Board March 12
The March 12 meeting was notable for the controversial vote to move students from overcrowded Ballyshannon Middle School to Gray Middle School and Camp Ernst Middle School.
