Planning Commission April 15
Of note, Drees has withdrawn its revised plan for further development along US Highway 42 in Union.
Fiscal Court April 14
Among other business, the April 14 meeting saw requests for more information regarding a proposed car wash on Burlington Pike, a first reading of an ordinance related to freight truck parking, and an increase in the coroner’s salary.
Boone County School Board March 12
The March 12 meeting was notable for the controversial vote to move students from overcrowded Ballyshannon Middle School to Gray Middle School and Camp Ernst Middle School.
Boone County School Board February 12
Our volunteer reporter notes that the February meeting was largely procedural, with unanimous approval for all items of business.
Public Library Board January 19
The Library Board’s January meeting generated some controversy over use of additional revenue, investments at Truist Bank and trading “stale” books for study space. Plans for the Florence branch continue, with three RFPs received.
Fiscal Court January 13
The Fiscal Court launched a new social media effort to answer questions about the court. Questions can be submitted anytime via email or to specific Facebook or Instagram posts.
Planning & Zoning December 17
The Planning Commission continues to address zoning requests to allow further commercial and residential development and changes made necessary by the passage of Ky HB160 regarding qualified manufactured homes.
Union City Commission December 15
Union City commissioners voiced concerns about the Union Landing project and then voted to follow the Boone County Planning Commission’s lead and resident objections and denied the required amendment that would have allowed the project to proceed.
Fiscal Court November 4
Fiscal Court approved bids for a backhoe loader and pickup trucks for the Public Works Department; the former is being contested. Inspection of Salem Creek bridge is complete and recommendations are being followed.
