Public Library Board December 16
Highlights from the Boone County Public Library Board’s December meeting at the main library in Burlington included a staff presentation on childcare centers, discussion of one challenged book, introduction of awareness programs, policy reviews, a report from the BCPL Foundation and other items of business.
Planning & Zoning December 4
Several proposals noted in previous reports passed unanimously during this meeting. Others wait either for public hearings or the Tech Committee meeting on December 18, with action to follow January 8.
Fiscal Court December 3
Of particular interest at the December 3 meeting was continued contentiousness over the county using state funding to install and maintain electric vehicle charging stations. A vote on the project has been tabled repeatedly. A final vote is expected December 17, 5:30 p.m., and residents are encouraged to voice their opinions to Fiscal Court members.
Planning & Zoning November 20
The Planning and Zoning Commission continues to consider proposals for commercial and residential development. Much of the activity involves Florence locations. Of interest: a vote regarding solar farms in Boone County.
Fiscal Court November 19
The Fiscal Court addressed multi-family development, with one proposal pending its second reading and one denied. Other issues involved funding for charging stations for electric vehicles and for The Boone Conservancy.
Public Library Board November 18
Notably, the public comment period has been moved nearer to the beginning of the meeting than at the end. Information included an analysis of periodicals for bias, discussion of the Chapin Memorial Library and expansion of the Florence branch, engagement with the new Walton branch and review of board and staff codes of conduct.

Planning and Zoning considered commercial, retail, medical and residential development across the county.
Resolution to Support Amendment 2
The Boone County Republican Party passed a resolution in support of voting yes on Amendment 2, agreeing that the Kentucky state legislature should be able to create policies to give students more educational opportunities.
Resolution to Support Amendment 1
The Boone County Republican Party passed a resolution in support of voting yes on Amendment 1, agreeing that language should be added to the Kentucky Constitution to prevent voting by non-citizens.
Public Library Board October 21
Residents continue to be frustrated by lack of support for the Chapin Memorial Library and for including a conservative publication in the library’s periodicals selection. The board addressed budget reports, expansion of the Florence branch, a proposed code of ethics and other matters.
