Presentation

Boone County Public Library presented a partnership award to Boone County Parks Dept. This is a national award given to only 10 departments nationwide and recognizes commitment to promote a learning, active community.

Ordinances: First Reading

First Reading of an ordinance relating to the Boone County Fiscal Court enacting and adopting supplements to the code of ordinances for County of Boone, Ky. This would incorporate all items approved during the year into the code of ordinances

Administrative Matters

  • Bid for backhoe loader for public works approved at a cost of $162,374. This was the not the lowest bid and is being contested by the lowest bidder.
  • Bid for two crew cab pickup trucks awarded to Paul Miller Ford approved at a cost of $93,990 total
  • Resolution to declare two Boone County vehicles as surplus approved. One will be donated and one will be sold.
  • Acquisition of temporary construction easement for the Sam Neace Drive sidewalk project approved at a cost of $3K.
  • Permanent utility easement approved along KY 18 for underground utilities to Duke Energy. Minor underground easement that will work with KY18 project.

Fiscal Matters

FY 2026 First quarter budget report approved. Copy available on request.

Old Business

  1. Ethics code changes update: end of year was given as a possible target date.
  2. Salem Creek Bridge update
    • Inspection is complete.
    • Shims will need to be installed under bridge (ordered).
    • Once installed, bridge will be rated for 9 tons only.
    • Replacement bridge will need to be added to 2026 budget.
    • Bridge remains closed.
  3. Hanover park traffic study update: preliminary report shows no combing measures (extrapolating if limit signage is changed) will be taken.
  4. Update on salt storage canopy repair requested. This was approved in the budget but has not been addressed yet.
  5. Backyard chickens, bees, rabbits: staff was asked to summarize surrounding counties’ ordinances for review.

  • All offices closed November 11 for Veterans Day.
