Florence City Council August 26

With two members absent at the August 26 meeting, lack of quorum prevented voting, but the city council reported on funds for Children’s Home of Kentucky; discussed rights of way franchise fees; and heard reports on city initiatives, events and schedules.

Fiscal Court August 19

August 24, 2025

Of note, the Fiscal Court voted to reduce the county portion of property tax to 8.5 cents per $100 valuation. Several contracts were awarded or amended. More than 100 residents voiced opposition to use of eminent domain for a Frogtown Road project.

August 19, 2025

A resolution to authorize an agreement between Florence and Kenton County regarding use of the Florence Senior Center passed unanimously. Also on the agenda was explanation of rights of way for utility lines that follow a city street.

The Library Board further discussed residents’ concerns about vagrancy at the Florence branch; reported on $23,000 in grants received; and settled on a 4.1% compensating tax rate, among other issues.

August 12, 2025

Florence City Council discussed an agreement with Kenton County for the latter’s residents’ use of the Florence Senior Center. Also on the agenda was a recommendation that residents seek service line protection, which often is not included in homeowner’s insurance.
