Florence City Council December 16
Florence City Council voted and approved resolutions regarding franchises for Owen Electric Coop and Duke Energy, among other business. Mayor Aubuchon reviewed the city’s achievements in 2025, and State Rep Marianne Proctor provided an overview of goals for the 2026 General Assembly Regular Session.
Public Library Board December 15
Presentations and discussions continue regarding how to use vacant land adjacent to the Hebron branch; public input has been strong. Also on the agenda was the audit for fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, and a board member’s request for benchmarking operational efficiency.
Union City Commission December 15
Union City commissioners voiced concerns about the Union Landing project and then voted to follow the Boone County Planning Commission’s lead and resident objections and denied the required amendment that would have allowed the project to proceed.
Florence City Council December 9
Five residents spoke regarding a variety of concerns, including traffic issues in Orleans South development and a detailed report about courtesy notices to residents.
Planning & Zoning December 3
Notable on the agenda: how the county will address Ky state law that prohibits cities or counties from adopting zoning laws that exclude qualified manufactured homes from any residential zone that allows single-family homes. The county continues to grapple with balancing the need for housing and public opposition to high-density development.
Union City Commission December 1
Among other reports, Public Works Director Paul Kremer provided an update on Union Town Square. Residents voiced concerns about business development near Whispering Trails; the developer will present the project at the January 5 meeting, and residents may voice their concerns at that time.
