Boone County School Board June 12
The Boone County School Board’s two conservative members voted no to Panorama. The school board spends $219K+ on Panorama, which the education services company says “collect[s] and act[s] on essential student behavior data” and provides “a valid and reliable survey tool to measure student perceptions of teaching and learning,” among other data collection applications. Planning & Zoning June 4
With the death of Planning Commission member Kenny Vaught, decisions scheduled for this meeting were delayed until July 2. The commission continues to field proposals for residential development and development of Union Promenade.
Florence City Council June 3
The Council addressed zoning changes, budgets, personnel policy changes and community events.
Union City Commission June 2
The Commission heard reports on the budget, new businesses in the community, the upcoming Union Celebrates America parade and progress on the Pocket Parks. The Commission revisited a question of a Masonic Rite of Consecration, ending the discussion with a tie vote.
Public Library Board May 19
The Boone County Public Library Board addressed concerns about vagrants using libary property to sleep and use drugs; questions regarding the Chapin Memorial Library; the Board’s search for grant funding; questions about staff reimbursement processes; sale of the Hebron branch’s undeveloped land; and other issues.
Florence City Council May 13
Florence City Council approved zoning changes for Bluegrass Cannacare and Brew Team Coffee and presented a busy slate of community activities, among other agenda items.
Boone County School Board May 8

Planning & Zoning May 7
The controversial Conrad Ln/Carry Back Dr proposal ended with the applicant withdrawing his request. Residents of West Brooke Estates and others along Hathaway Rd turned out to oppose a proposal. A public hearing is scheduled for June 4 regarding a zoning change on Hathaway between Big Bone Rd and Enclave Dr.
Fiscal Court May 6
The meeting saw continued discussion of the proposed Home2Suites hotel between Richwood and Frontage roads and approval of the control swap of Hicks Pike and Chambers Road. Additionally, several contracts were awarded, among other items of business.
Union City Commission May 5
Among other issues, Union commissioners discussed tax revenues, sidewalk and blacktop maintenance, business signage, recycling and several ordinances and orders.
