Public Library Board February 19
The board, with input from residents, Judge Executive Gary Moore and County Administrator Matthew Webster, continued discussion of how best to serve the residents of Petersburg and Bellevue Bottoms through the Chapin Memorial Library.
Planning & Zoning February 7
Requests at the February 7 meeting included changes in signage, changes to commercial usage, single-family home development and commercial development and expansion.
Boone County School Superintendent Search Kickoff February 6
The Education subgroup of the BCRP Local Issues Committee took a proactive position in the Superintendent search by brainstorming the desired Characteristics of a Superintendent and provided those to every Board member two days before this meeting. As well, BCRP sent a letter to the Board Chairman, Jesse Parks, copied to every Board member, indicating our expectation that BCRP be considered a unique stakeholder group providing input during the public input period. The primary justification for stakeholder acknowledgement was that BCRP represents 63,000 taxpayers. Generally this proactive approach was ignored.
Fiscal Court February 6
The Fiscal Court discussed a proposed amateur sports complex and expansion of the convention center and heard a report on the current audit.
Union City Council December 23 & January 24
Union Council is focusing on development of the town center, public works projects, and a new city building.
Fiscal Court January 23
The fiscal court discussed creation and oversight of a Boone County Transportation Improvement District and considered zoning changes, among other matters.
Boone County School Board January 11
The Boone County school board chose a new board chair, discussed the cost of the search for a new superintendent, considered and dismissed a parent’s concern about a book and remarked on changing enrollment.
Planning & Zoning January 3
The Boone County Planning Commission denied one multi-family development, approved another and considered several other changes in zoning in Union, Boone County, Richwood and Hebron.
Planning & Zoning December 6 & 20
The Planning Commission considered proposals allowing multi-family developments, grocery store development, cell tower installation and various changes in zoning for other purposes.
