Doan updates on Stevenson Road, other projects
As the legislative session has concluded, my attention has shifted to my reelection campaign, recommitting to the pledges I made two years ago when I embarked on this journey in public service.
From the outset of my inaugural campaign, I highlighted the pressing need to address the longstanding issue of Stevenson Road. The residents of Erlanger have endured decades of flooding on this thoroughfare without a viable solution. I am thrilled to announce that the recently approved road plan, encompassed in HB 266 and HJR 92, allocates over $944 million to my district, notably earmarking $30 million for the vital Stevenson Road project.
Economic stability and safeguarding the American dream have been paramount concerns for me. The pervasive impact of inflation on our ability to provide for our families and secure our futures is deeply troubling. As a father of two young children, I am acutely aware of the stakes involved in preserving the promise of prosperity for future generations.
During the early stages of this legislative session, I swiftly introduced three pivotal bills: HB 101, HB 102, and HB 103. These initiatives aimed to address taxation, housing accessibility, and parental rights in healthcare, respectively.
HB 101’s integration into HB 8 marks a significant milestone, eliminating sales tax on gold and silver effective July 1, 2024. Beyond mere taxation relief, this measure sets the stage for further policies to fortify our monetary framework, including the exploration of gold repositories and gold-backed digital currencies, empowering Kentuckians to combat economic instability.
HB 103’s seamless inclusion within HB 174 ensures that parents have unequivocal access to their children’s medical records, countering undue medical interventions without parental consent, a crucial victory for the healthcare rights of Northern Kentucky residents.
While HB 102 encountered committee hurdles, its proposals ignited a national discourse on housing reform, earning recognition as a pioneering model legislation. I am honored to have been invited to present this legislation at a forthcoming national conference, offering insights to lawmakers grappling with housing crises across the country.
As we adjourn, several critical issues remain unresolved, including occupational licensing reform, healthcare price transparency, and higher education reforms. I eagerly anticipate returning to Frankfort to champion these causes and drive positive change for our community.
In the face of challenges and unfinished business, I remain steadfast in my commitment to serving the people of House District 69, guided by principles of transparency, accountability, and unwavering dedication. Together, let us forge a brighter future for Kentucky.
