Boone County School Board May 8

Boone County School Board May 8

May 8, 2025

The Jill & Stacie Show recaps the May Boone County School Board meeting, highlighting the district’s $88 million balance on hand, tax revenues collected and the end-of-year 2024-2025 progress report.

The report notes nearly 10% of the district’s 20,600 students are English Learner (EL) students who speak more than 70 home languages. Middle school proficiency rates are 55% for reading and 54% for math, yet the high school graduation rate is 96%.

The report also notes how the district is addressing the need for translation services, kindergarten readiness and disruption in learning when students move repeatedly and change schools during the school year. Links to reports from the Bluegrass Institute regarding student scores are available below the video.
